Dr. Austin Barber is a Board Certified Urologist. He embarked on his educational journey at Abraham Baldwin College, earning an Associate of Science in Biology. He continued his academic journey at the University of Georgia, achieving Magna Cum Laude honors with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Driven by a passion for medicine, he pursued his Doctorate of Medicine at Mercer University School of Medicine.
His dedication to serving in the medical field led him to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where he completed a General Surgery Internship and Urology Residency. Notably, Dr. Barber served as a Captain in the United States Air Force Reserve excelling in the Health Profession Scholarship Program Medical Corps and graduating in the top 10% of his class during USAF Commissioned Officer training. During his tenure in the United States Air Force, he practiced as Chief Urologist, Major at Keesler Medical Center in Biloxi, Mississippi, where he demonstrated leadership and expertise.
In 2020, he transitioned to Baxter Health Urology Clinic before co-founding the Vitality Plus Urology Clinic in June 2023, alongside his partner, Dr. Daniel Decker. Dr. Barber maintains active memberships with esteemed organizations such as the American Board of Urology, American Urological Association, Arkansas Urologic Society, and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. His commitment to advancing medical knowledge is evident through his past involvement in research, particularly the Quality Improvement Project at the Central Arkansas Veterans Health Care System. Notably, he contributed to a project comparing Bladder Cancer rates at the VA Hospital to National Bladder Cancer rates.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Barber finds joy in his family life. He is happily married to his wife, Cara, and together they nurture a family of three boys. Dr. Barber’s multifaceted journey reflects a passion for Urology, a commitment to high standards, and a fulfilling personal life.
